(Correction to Original Posting) Former St. Louis Archbishop appointed to serve Vatican's Congregation of Bishop's...

* It was reported by this blogger in error, on the original post that Archbishop Robert Carlson was also appointed to this position. That report was INCORRECT. My thanks to the Chief Communications Officer of the Archdiocese of St. Louis for keeping me in line.

It was reported today by LifeSiteNews.com several prelates were appointed "to one of the most critical offices in the Catholic Church", the article stated. Antonio Cardinal Canizares Llovera, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Archbishop Emeritus of St. Louis, Archbishop Raymond L. Burke, Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, have all been appointed to serve in "the Vatican's Congregation for Bishops which oversees the selection of Bishops around the world."

Archbishop Burke has been well known and renown for his vocalization of defending the Sanctity of Life, the Family,as well as traditional liturgical practices. Archbishop Burke continues, even as of late, to be critical of Catholic elected officials in the United States to their none Pro-Life agenda, and continuing to receive the Sacraments.

Those of us who currently reside or have lived in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, should be especially honored in this latest appointment of Archbishop Burke, knowing that the Holy Spirit has truly blessed us with great men have lead the Church here in St. Louis. We, as residents of this Archdiocese, must continue to do all we can to not only stand up for Life Issues, but discern how we can continue to have an even greater impact on the world as a whole, to protect LIFE. This recent round of appointments is clear evidence why the Archdiocese of St. Louis has been affectionately known as, "The Rome of the Mid-West", as we have had such wonderful Shepherds come to this blessed Archdiocese.

Our current Shepherd in St. Louis, Archbishop Carlson has done an outstanding job in his first several months as Archbishop, and also comes to us with similar vision, love and hope those the People of God in St. Louis, rooted in the spirit of Archbishop Burke. Archbishop Carlson has been and continues to be a strong Advocate for Family Life Issues as well as his continued dedication to an increase to the Vocation of the Priesthood.

I say not only to my fellow St. Louisans, fellow Countrymen (United States) but also to myself, we (laity) must continue to stand up for the Sanctity of Life at all it's stages; we must do more to destroy the current society which perpetuates a culture of death in our world; we must do a better job of Evangelizing each-other, ESPECIALLY Catholics to better understand and LIVE out the TRUE meaning of the Gospel Message - Love - loving each-other as Christ loves His Church. We must continue to stand up for Life as well as keeping these great Warriors for the Gospel in our daily prayers. Our Church needs more Archbishop Burke's and Archbishop Carlson's in this Nation, in order to effectuate TRUE CHANGE in this society!

We Praise you Lord Jesus Christ and we thank God for our wonderful Shepherds, long live Archbishop's Burke and Carlson and long live our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI!

Pax Christi,

Evangelist Richard Lane, Co-Founder of Qorban Ministries
